Bottle. Unlock dreams = boozy hallucinations. Crystal seams self-explanatory. Hidden made plain (clear) = glass.
I reckon its the box, like Critter said.
The first line indicates that it’s use lies in what it holds, the use of “I” personifies the item that the riddle is talking about; in the second line indicates the value of the items it holds as being more valuable than gold. The next 3 lines depicts all of the items found; A key, a bottle, and a map, and the possibilities they possess which is limitless and beyond the value of gold.
In the next line, the nature of a box is to conceal objects, while its design itself is plain to behold? For a plain box may hold riches beyond ones dreams.
The second last line, and I’m just being nitpicky, but it says “paws” instead of paw, so it requires two paws to hold the object, and boxes generally need two hands 😛
Well, it’s not the map, that’s for sure…
Thek key is a candidate and fits the riddle, but seems just too plain obvious…
The bottle kind of fits, but seems a bit of an odd one out. But a riddle is all about being a trick question…
Gonna have to toss a coin between those two. =/
If it’s a trick question, i’d go with the box 😛
Well, of the things on the table of what to choose….
I choose the Box the other three came in.
It’s the map 😀
I think it’s the map too. The place of crystal seams has me a bit lost though – maybe ice? An unknown place where there’s ice & treasure?
Methinks this is a trick question. If not, I’d say… the bottle.
That old fox i real, creepy!
“My use is found in what I hold!” I’d go for the Bottle….
And if this is a trick I say Choose the Box!
The mind itself, each of the three, has a truth, but a mind is worth infinitely more than any coin. The mind brings the dreams, unlocks your potential when you see its use, only gather dust if left alone, where it places the parts together, a puzzle made whole, and unites a being into harmony. And the last line, to use it for solving the riddle fair.
“That on no dusty chart has lain”
What are maps also known as? Charts.
So no, it’s not the map.
I am reminded of the wizard’s riddle in the movie Willow, in which he holds out his hand, and asks “which finger holds the power to move the universe?” Everyone tested points to one or another of the wizard’s fingers, and in doing so fails the test, including the title character. Later, he approaches the wizard, and says that his first idea was to present his own finger. Which would have been the right answer, if he had gone with it.
Stratovaria has a good answer, but we are restricted to “the objects before you”, which include a map, a key, a stoppered bottle, a box, and a table. I’m inclined to go with the key, but I am certain that would not be the correct answer.
How about the R seal (presumably Reynard) that was holding the map closed? A guild memberships hold “a value that surpasses gold.” Business connections can be mined like “crystal seams,” but being intangible, they lay “on no dusty chart.” Guild trade secrets are “hidden things…made so plain” to initiates.
Tots the bottle inc. potion inside.
It is the map.
A value that surpasses gold – Information
The power to unlock your dreams – directions to places you’ve dreamed of
To find the place of crystal seams – Gold is found in seams of crystal quartz
That on no dusty chart has lain – Got me there.
Where hidden things are made so plain – Distance hides much that a map makes plain
I’m held in your most dexterous paws – You hold a map
So take me, and unlock your doors – I guess in a poetic sense, a map unlocks the door to distant places
I’m going to vote for the map. “A value that surpasses gold” -> Knowledge
“Unlock dreams” -> An adventure to follow
“Find the place… seams… lain” -> What the map is directing you to, that no other map has (so it should still be there and not already claimed by another adventurer!)
“Hidden things are made so plain”-> X marks the spot!
Fun riddle, with excellent artwork.
Oh, multiple choice. No, NO luck involved THERE. It definitely wasn’t the only reason my brother made it through English class. 🙂
Keep reading it will make sense it due time.
