Scale Chart
Good morning possums,
I am here to announce not only the long-awaited delivery of the scale chart, requested by a dear reader so long ago that it’s embarrassing…BUT also that there are changes afoot.
I’m changing the update schedule to Mondays, so that the header has some awesome alliteration going on.
There’s also a new About page, new and different World page, a new Characters page (coming next Monday), and a general tidy-up for the website. Please, explore and enjoy, and I’ll continue the scintillating dinner-date between our foxy heroes on Monday.
This is really nice to have a scale of the characters in Red Tails, I wish it was in inches & feet and not metric, which made me think of converting it to inches & feet as best as I can in my brain. Anyway, do really love & enjoy your comic a lot and always look forward to more. By the way, just love Enola’s beautiful green eyes.
Hey, do you think you could convert it for me? Aussies are all metric now, so inches and feet don’t come into my mind very often. BUT, if you felt like converting for me, I’ll put the measurements in feet up one side of the chart.
I’d be happy to help you convert it, I’ll have to find a conversion chart somewhere. Well I managed to find a conversion chart sort of. To convert 1 foot to a meter divide 1,200 by 3,937 this equals .3048. To convert 1 meter to 1 foot multiply it in reverse and don’t forget to move the decimal point over to the left as required. I don’t have a calculator with me. Best as I know 1M is equal to about 38 inches which is close to 3 Ft which is 36″ 12″ = 1′. Hope that gives you some idea.
“Curious Peoples and How to Avoid Them”
That sounds like an excellent tome to read! 😀
The titles of the publications mentioned sound like they could have originated from the discworld. Either way, love the comic. But I would love to see more from little Lou there. I just love that guy 🙂
Rule of thumb for converting:
meters x 3,3 = feet
cm x 2,5 = inch
So the wolf would be around 8 feet tall.
ah sorry, I mixed up the cm inch conversion. It’s the other way around: cm / 2,5 = inch
and sorry for the double post, i couldn’t find an edit button
Hooray!
It’s informative AND entertaining.
So mouse+rabit=fox?
For the us Yanks, some approximate (not all are right on a line) numbers in Imperial.
*Wolf: 7 ft 9 in(!)
*Fox: 5 ft 1 in
*Rat: 3 ft
*Mouse: 2 ft 11 in
*Rabbit: 3ft 7in w/o ears, ~4ft w/ ears
*Cat: ~5ft 10in
Also, Fascinating Monsters and How to Run From Them sounds like something a D&D group I DM’d wrote in game once! 😀
Yeah, Hythan Cats are pretty much six foot or therabouts (what I would refer to as ‘normal’ human size, though Katie may disagree with me on that one.)
Alrighty. Now we have a new scale with measurements in feet as well. I took Wusel’s advice of multiplying by 3.3, and rounded up the .9 results to a whole number, to make the measurements more straight forward.
And ‘normal’ human size is a bit smaller than six foot, thankyou Ian. About 160cm is just right I think (not like you tall freaks out there).
161cm, to be exact.
I understand why you placed the measurements in x,y feet, since I grew up using the metric system myself. But I’m not shure if it helps our US friends much, since one foot consists of twelve inch. So 0,9 foot would be 10,8 inch. Frankly, I really don’t understand why they still don’t use a decimal system, since it’s way easier to work with.
Give me a day or so and I will try to convert those measurements into feet and inch, so everyone will be happy.
I converted the measurements using these numbers:
1 m = 3,2808 ft ; 1 ft = 0,3048 m
1 cm = 0,394 in ; 1 in = 2,54 cm
first the indicated scale-marks and the equivalents in feet and inch (round to a half inch):
2,4 m : 7′ 10,5″ since the wolf is a little taller than this my guess wasn’t so far off 🙂
2,2 m : 7′ 2,5 ”
2,0 m : 6′ 7″
1,8 m : 5′ 11″ the cat beeing a little taller should be around 6 ft then
1,6 m : 5′ 3″
1,4 m : 4′ 7,0″
1,2 m : 3′ 11,0″
1,0 m : 3′ 3,5″
0,8 m : 2′ 7,5″
0,6 m : 1′ 11,5″
0,4 m : 1′ 4″
0,2 m : 0′ 8″
This website was a lot of help (it’s german, but I think you all should be able to figure it out anyway):

I knew you would get to it eventually my friend, ^_^ even if it took like forever. lol
