The Merchandising Monster Emerges!

Hey everybody

Katie and I have been kicking around the idea of providing people with a more visceral way they can support and spread the word about Red Tails.
Or in simpler terms: We wanna do merch!

Obviously a book will be in the works at some point. A compilation of the story thus far brought together in high-tactile and low-bandwidth ‘paper’. Possibly with content exclusive to the print version to entice the otherwise tight-fisted into parting with some of their hard-earned cash.
But that’s still miles off yet.

In the meantime we’re wondering if anyone would be interested in other forms of merch such as t-shirts, buttons, mugs and suchlike.

If you happen to be so inclined, just leave a comment after this post explaining (briefly) what kind of merch you’d be interested in. (Before anyone asks Furry porn will not be accepted or even considered,  Disapproval ) You have been warned.

A Christmas Pressie

Hey folks. Hope you’ve all recovered from the food coma. Just have to share this little gem of a film, ‘Though Of You’ by Ryan Woodward. It really expresses everything I love about hand-drawn animation when in the hands of a patient artist. The way I see it, comparing flash, aftereffects or similar ‘puppet-style’ animation to hand-drawn is like comparing walking to dancing.

Animation Goodies

I’ve recently discovered some amazing pieces of work in the animation and film-art universe, and figure I may as well promote and show these dude’s works of to any random passerby…

Coachelletta from Sam O'Hare on Vimeo.

Yay for tilt shift!

(Absolutely gorgeous, and so much damn hard work pored into this!)

This one has been out and about for three years already, but if you haven’t seen this animation out of AFTRS in Sydney, you totally should. Before this, I’d never been really emotionally moved by a 3D work. Now I have 🙂

The Terrible Thing of Alpha-9! from Cartoon Brew TV on Vimeo.

Logorama from Marc Altshuler – Human Music on Vimeo.

This won tons of awards. I saw it at the Melbourne International Animation Festival. T’was le awesome.

Something to giggle at 😀 Those naughty little boys.
Here is further proof of my increasing love for digital colouring (ahhh, command-Z how I love thee…)
This was my entry for a digital art competition with the theme ‘When I Grow Up I Want To Be…” It’s run by the Animation Alliance, which is a brand spanking new festival + organisation by some happy Brisbane folks. They’re launching the inaugural International Animation Day for Australia at the end of the month, and I so wish I could go 🙁

Sorry for all the RSS activity

Hello folks, if you are an RSS subscriber I must deeply apologise for all the random alerts you might have got. Basically I discovered a massive booboo in my uploading, as I’d managed to mess up pages 3 and 4 and got them in the wrong order. With a lot of fiddling, deleting and re-ordering, it finally all good again. Win!
Anyho, so this post isn’t a waste of space, here is a NY artist Zina Saunders who I discovered recently – her stuff is amazing.
